no chance of a capsule wardrobe on our next trip!

I fear this is me for our up and coming holiday. I usually pride myself on my capsule packing but this time I have no idea what the best things to take would be.....so it's all going in!

As I think I've mentioned before we are off to the South of France, staying at a Yelloh campsite. Not in a tent I hasten to add, more of a fancy caravan. We've hired a car for the trip as we flying to Nice and hoping to explore the area a little. It's going to be scorching by the looks of things! This is what's giving me a packing headache....I feel I need to be prepared for every eventuality! I've never bought as much new stuff with holiday in mind as I have for this trip. I initially thought a variety of camis and shorts to mix and match would be perfect. However, since finding out some friends are going to be in the area at the same time.....we've planned to meet up in St Tropez so I feel the need to pack a few dressier bits.

Where to begin?

Let's go with the dressier stuff and my current favourite dresses.

Gap outlet red maxi dress (recent purchase...bargain at just over a tenner!) also love this one
H&M red dress, here
Mango dress, past season, however! This is gorgeous in ivory!

More dress options...or posh beach cover-ups as I like to call them! ;0)

Zara blue dress, sold out similar here
Boden cross tie tunic, here

And there are more!! However, if I was to cut back on anything it could be these.....but as darker colour clothing means less of the dreaded suncream stains they will probably stay in!

Mango embroidered panel dress, similar here from Mango
Gap grey dress, ancient good little alternative here

A couple of poolside playsuits as well....excellent for pulling up over swimwear!

Uniqlo blue playsuit, ancient...this one is cute!

And finally the selection of shorts and camis

With regards to swimwear, I'm taking 2 swimsuits

and 3 bikinis.

Where I am saving myself some suitcase space is shoes! I'm wearing the tan sandals....they go with all of the above and the Hav's are getting packed. I've toyed with taking these and these but really and truly I don't think they will be needed so I'm sticking with just the two pairs. Brave huh?! :0/

I splashed out on a new beach bag......I would have taken my recently customised basket but I want to use it as hand luggage and as it's pretty bulky and has no fastening I'm afraid of the contents spilling out whilst in the overhead storage so I've decided to leave it behind. I spotted this lovely bag on Instagram....thanks to @spamried for the tip-off! As the opening is a lot smaller I'm less likely to lose anything! I'm also taking my funky SayWhatYouC funky clutch to liven up an outfit of an evening! I am doubling it up and using it to store my make-up in! I shall probably fling in a couple of foldaway canvas totes as well for shopping.

Here's a little taster of what I will be travelling in....I'm going for trews and my new cape but will probably stash a little dress in my shopper that I can chuck on if it's as scorchio as promised when we land!

What do we think? Am I taking way too much? What would you remove? Any clothing tips would be greatly appreciated!! All I can say in my defense is that this lot packs up small!

There are many outfits to catch up on.....here we go!

I'm hoping that there is method in my madness and that I can fully justify everything I have flung in the suitcase but I'm open to suggestions....so please fire away!

Back with an update....and any desperate last minute purchases before we leave!

p.s sorry for the marathon outfit update! Wishing everyone a great weekend!

  1. Great selection of outfits Michelle. Take them all! Have a great holiday. Love how lots of your things are past season or ancient - really inspiring as it shows how cool you can look without having to spend a fortune on a new wardrobe. Looking forward to your Aw16 ideas xx

    1. Thank you Emma! I have to say it doesn't look quite so bad now that it is packed! What I love about holiday clothes is that you can drag the old favourites out that you've had for years as they literally only come out once or twice a year! I'll be turning my attention to A/W when I get back no doubt! ;0) xx

  2. Sounds like you've really thought this packing through carefully Michelle, and it's actually not that much really...considering you are doing quite a few different things? I'm dreadful with packing too much footwear and always take too many shoes, so I'm in awe of you only taking flip flops and sandals...maybe that would be my only suggestion another pair of sandals for the evenings maybe? But as your in the South of France I'm sure there will be a little shopping going on?! Have a wonderful time looking forward to all the pucs! Helen xx

    1. Hands up H, a few things have been added now....thankfully though they are not adding to my woes as I've replaced a couple of items. One thing I have re-thought is the shoes and I'm adding an extra pair of sparkly flat sandals to the mix, they are neutral so they go with everything in the case!
I can't believe I'm saying this but one of the things I resigned myself to when booking this trip was that there wouldn't be a lot of opportunity to shop.....eek!! Now it looks as though that might change!! We shall see! ;0) xx

  4. All your outfits look great and very suitable, a girl can never have enough choice, as long as it fits in take it! Love that H & M red beauty, I saw that and wanted it, but feared it maybe too short for me. Happy holidays.x Jacqui www.mummabstylish.com

  5. Great round up Michelle! Cant find that circular straw tote though The one you linked is sold out. Did a quick search but couldn't find an alternative. :( I live in the US and even if the one linked was available, I bet the shipping would be an arm and a leg! Let me know if you know of any options. Thank you :)

    1. Hi Rakela, try searching French round basket bag on Etsy. There are a couple of bags that are exactly the same from different retailers. Let me know if you have any luck xx

  6. Thank you for your pictures always love everything you wear. Also thanks for the heads up on the holiday, my husband and I have already been looking at what we will do next year and we did all inclusive this year with our kids, and none of us liked it, so I think the holiday you have been on is just up our street. Thank you
