modern twist on a classic white tee!

A couple of weeks back I received an email from the lovely Melanie, founder of YunionT asking if she could send me one of the t-shirts from her range. If you are a long-time follower of my blog you will know that it's only been on the rare occasion that I have reviewed an item for a brand. I have purposely shied away from doing so as I feel I have to believe in something enough to actually buy it. So I sat on Melanie's email for a couple of days. When I read the email again, I realised that I really wanted to support YunionT because Melanie is passionate about her product. She has designed a range of t-shirts where not only is the fabric manufactured in the UK but the garment is too! She felt there was a gap in the market for a great quality white t-shirt and so she went for it, something which I really admire and makes me feel that it's truly a brand worth getting behind. When the business grows she hopes to develop some other wardrobe essentials.
In Melanie's own words.....
"I started the business after years of frustration trying to find a good quality white t-shirt, that was not see through, and did not cling to things I did not want to share with the world!

I originally trained as a designer, so decided to tackle this basics dilemma, as I believe good basics are the catalyst for any great wardrobe.  I have given this wardrobe classic the attention it deserves, and worked carefully on finding a good quality fabric, that is opaque, soft to the touch and cool, the design has been developed to skim the body and not cling, giving a flattering silhouette."

From the range of 5 classic white t-shirts. I chose the modern slash neck. It's not difficult to see why as this shape has been styled so beautifully on the website. I love this neck-line which is quite hard to find on the High Street.

It looks so elegant doesn't it?! After a quick scout through my wardrobe I uncovered a pleather midi skirt, not quite the Grace Kelly look I had in mind but this is a look I would definitely wear.

I thought it would also look fab with a pleather pencil skirt and caged, heeled sandals. Now I just need the DH to take me somewhere fancy so I can wear this! ;0)

New Look statement necklace, past season, this one here is gorgeous!

I was thinking a little bit Audrey Hepburn with the crop trews and ballet flat!

Here's how I actually wore it last week, you can't beat a crisp white tee, blue jeans and a red lip!

Gap real straight jeans, I've hacked the hem off of these

The t-shirt is superb quality, it's fits perfectly, mine is a size small (I'm size 8/10) and I think it's £45 price point is comparable to some high end high street t-shirts that I have bought in the past. It's excellent value, you can see that right away....it got the royal seal of approval from my mum who knows her textiles and excellent value when she sees it! ;0)

There are 5 styles in total.

I must admit I love the last kaftan neck t-shirt, it's just that little bit different. The tags are printed with a perfect little saying "adding the extra to the ordinary" which I think sums up YunionT perfectly!

Is a good quality basic something you have found hard to find? How do you feel about supporting British designers and manufacturers? What's your favourite style of the selection? I could ask many, many more questions....whatever your thoughts I would love to hear them.

Ending with this week's outfits as I usually do! Ohh how lovely it has been to dress for the sunshine for a change!

Right, I shall be back in a couple of days with that capsule packing post I promised.....it's giving me a couple of footwear related dilemma's thanks to the weather.....darn you forecast!!

*YunionT very kindly gifted me this t-shirt but I wasn't obliged to review in return. All words and opinions are my own apart from those where I have quoted Melanie.*

    1. After experimenting with a few neck-lines on the t-shirt front I know that a v-neck or slash/boat neck are the most flattering for me....and you are so right, it is hard to find good ones! When you do, its a good idea to stock up and they are the basis of every wardrobe aren't they! Thank you so much for the reassurance Helen regarding me reviewing this tee....'twas a big step for me but very happy to have supported this lovely brand! xx
