my a/w knitwear hits and picks!

It's the time of year where I have a few knitwear purchases under my belt. Like buses, 3 have come along at once! We have really seen a dip in the temperatures these past few days and the forecast is not looking good for the foreseeable. I've kicked off my collection of winter wonders with a statement piece! I've been coveting this gorgeous Cos sweater for a while now (I'm holding Frances and Sue wholly responsible for this!) I thought it was high time I injected a bit of colour into my mostly monochrome A/W wardrobe so I plumped for this lovely berry shade.

Stay with me while I digress a bit......got to share my bargain of the year, they just happen to look superb with the Cos sweater. I went to Clarks Village outlet centre during the week and I've had a lot of luck in the Whistles outlet shop.....who excelled themselves this trip as I picked up this fab pair of satin cropped peg trews for just a fiver! Don't you just love that kind of bargain?! These will be fab for the party season, which is now just around the corner.

Back to the sweaters! The birthday fairies didn't listen to my plea for some Uniqlo cashmere but I still had a gap in the wardrobe for a navy v neck jumper so I decided to go for some more of their trusty merino, which I have to say I feel will be far more easy to care for as they easily go in the machine!

Sticking with basic knitwear shapes, I bought this oversize dark marl grey H&M pullover as it will basically go with everything in my wardrobe and I love the shape!

As you can see there are many outfits crying out for this style!

What else is on my radar knitwear wise? Well I'm still cogitating about the Topshop Breton from my last post here. There is something similar from Mango which I'm going to look at first before I decide whether or not to purchase (thanks to Sue @highstreetedited for alerting me to the fact that the reviews weren't too good on the Topshop one).

Another Topshop jumper that I love is this little khaki number. I think this would look ace with black skinnies and tan Brogues a la Audrey Hepburn?!

I am yet to find a cream cable sweater that fits the bill but I rather like this Warehouse offering....

I also love this from Topshop, though it's not technically a sweater, more of fleecy sweatshirt. This would be fab for lounging around in on a cold and dreary Sunday!

My finger has been hovering to click away on this one for the past couple of weeks! This would be ace for layering over my Missguided maxi dress!

If I didn't already have a grey Zara sweater similar to this M&S one, it would be coming home with me!

And last but not least....the nearest you'll ever see me in anything resembling a Christmas jumper!

Have you been stocking up on sweaters? Anything brands on the High Street excelling in knitwear department? What styles have caught your eye?

A quick outfit round-up as always!

I am hoping to squeeze a couple more blog posts in before I go on holiday next Sunday! How much harder is it to pack for a warm break at this time of year when you've already put the majority of your summer stuff away? I'll keep you informed! ;0)

Back soon! Michelle xx

  1. Oh I love knitwear and I've already purchased a few this year. A Gap Breton, a Next mustard jumper and two M&S camel ones (I think that's all!). I love the grey mohair one. Just gorgeous. The H&M sweater is very you and I love the berry shade on you too - perfect for Autumn! Great buys. Lynne xx

    1. I could easily click the button on all of my picks Lynne! I need to work out what I would actually get the wear out of having already made 3 purchases! That said 3 pieces of knitwear have left my wardrobe this week so maybe it's time for another little cull?! xx

  2. That Cos number is fabulous, and I just love the star elbow patches on the ASOS jumper! I seem to have done rather too well on the knitwear front last year, so it's hard to justify anything new for this A/W, although I may have invested heavily in Warehouse button cuff jumpers already (a khaki, a black, a burgundy and a leopard print *blush*). Fine knits were non-existent in my wardrobe though, so I don't feel too bad about these...

Well done on the Whistles trousers too, what a bargain! xx

    1. The Cos jumper was well worth the wait Becky...I love it and I know it will do well on the pay per wear front! As well as tons of basic layering knits I have a couple of statement knits from last year which also makes it hard for me to justify anymore too!
The trews are fab....I can see me doing many things with them, think they will look fab with Converse for a start! :0) xx

  3. Oooo I love sweaters but went overboard last year with a Maje one, Whistles one and a cashmere My Wardrobe beauty so I'm trying to restrain myself.. not very well actually as I have succumbed to an M&S Breton, an Urban Outfitters roll neck and a navy ribbed Topshop number oops! Love the Audrey Hepburn style sweater. And those £5 trews are gorgeous! Sue xx

    1. Lol....sounds like we are all trying to be restrained but failing miserably! It's hard not to get sucked into stocking up on lovely sweaters....it always feels like we are wearing them forever with our Great British weather!! xx

  4. Ha ha ... new season, new jumpers. It's got to be done. I opened my box of winter jumpers the other day and technically I don't need anything else but mentally I need another 5 grey jumpers, 5 cream jumpers and 5 more black jumpers. All different styles and all for different purposes. And I have very little resistance.

The Cos jumper - that is a lovely fit on you and I swear it washes lovely too. And it's colourful ... faint.

The black trousers are the bargain of the century and I'm gutted that the Whistles outlet closed down at my outlet years back but I do have a Margaret Howell one instead which I love. And daren't go in anymore since I got recognised in there. Eek.

    1. Well you've got to add a couple of newbies into the mix each year haven't you Sue?! ;0)

Faint indeed over the injection of colour.....just what my wardrobe needed and it will go with lots never mind the proverbial black and white!

Whistles is about the only store that gets me excited about going to Clarks Village.....there is nothing to rival Margaret Howell there sadly although Jaeger often has some gems there too! My next project is to have a play with styling those pegs....want to make sure I get my monies worth out of them! ;0) xx

    1. More stripes will definitely have to be done Victoria! I think I tend to think that a v neck suits me better than a crew so I am always looking to add a few more to my collection! xx

  8. What a bargain those trousers were! I got my favourite sweater ever in French Connection in Kildare Village (Bicester's Irish cousin!) and am planning a return trip over midterm to see if I can bag another bargain or two. I'm also loving knitwear this season - when working at home, it's the best option ... jackets are way too dressy & trackies don't lend themselves to productive work at the laptop!!

    1. If you are prepared to have a good old root around in the outlet centres its amazing what you can find isn't it Helen! Good luck for bagging another sweater in the holidays! I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's a proven fact that you are more productive work-wise when you are wearing business attire so I completely understand why you are loving some smartish knitwear whilst working from home! xx

  10. I love knitwear season too! But have this awful problem with most things just being too itchy for me, That Asos star number is right up my street - colour, fabric, Chinti and Parker homage....what more does a girl need?! Shall check it out and report back. Meg xx PS Love the burgandy on you!
