Maxi dress success!

So, a couple of posts back I was on the hunt for a maxi dress to wear `a la Emma from A Style Album. The Yumi Mela dress I ordered wasn't quite what I wanted but I should have known that I could count on my personal stylist, Sue to find me just the right thing! She came up trumps with this beauty of a dress from ASOS. Boho maxi trend covered! The thing I adore about it is it's a star print too!

Right, just so you know......the plunge part of this dress is not for the faint hearted! I am wearing a v-neck lacey M&S camisole underneath. It is also incredibly long (the model is 5ft 9" and wearing it with heels!), so I've had it taken up a few inches to wear with my Converse and I must confess that I've shortened the sleeves to the elbow to spare me looking like an extra from a Harry Potter (a part time wizard I promise you I am not!).

Just to refresh your memory, the original inspiration.....

Lulu Guinness bag, early birthday present to myself via eBay ;0)

That's another trend covered. I think that will be all in the way of boho from me this season. At least I will be able to wear this in the colder months with Primark fleece lined  tights underneath and boots for maximum usage! Have you succumbed to anything boho yet?
Here's what I've been sporting for the school run this week! I've still been getting those pins out as much as possible!

It looks as though the weather is about to take a turn and we will be head-long Autumn temps but I am on a mission not to wear a coat until the 1st of November to get some wear out of some of my much loved jackets! Have you set yourself any A/W clothing challenges?!

Until next time!

  1. A brilliant style steal and the dress looks amazing on you. I can't even begin to imagine how long it would have been on me if I'd tried. And the Lulu Guinness bag - lurvely! I think it's a really nice way to do the boho look without coming over too "peasant like".

Thank you for the mention - it was a pleasure to help. What are we after next? ;o)

    1. Lol! The thought of how this dress would drown you Sue did make me laugh out loud! There is a lot going on with the the length the plunge and the sleeves but I'm glad I could see past all those things and how I could make it into a perfect dress for me!

I am really looking forward to using the LG bag.....I searched high and low for a red bag with silver hardware and when I saw this one I snapped it up straight away! It is lovely soft kid leather and can be worn with the straps doubled up over the shoulder or as a crossbody bag......happy days! :0)

I'm sure it won't be long before I have another mission for you! ;0) xx

    1. Thanks Donna! Once I get an idea in my head I am like a dog with a bone....I really love this outfit so it was worth going the extra mile to get it just right! I know I will wear the dress loads as it will double up nicely as a maxi skirt with a sweater over it and high tops instead of lows once it gets a bit colder! xx

    1. Ahh bless you Helen....if only! The alterations paid off as I see myself getting a lot of wear out of this and the dress was fairly inexpensive anyway! I think we will all be sporting a red bag to liven up our uniform monochrome this season! ;0) xx

  8. I love this dress on you, Michelle. Great idea to jade the sleeves taken up too. I never wear maxis in autumn or winter as I tend to think of them as a summer look, but this is fabulous! Lynne xx

    1. Thank you Lynne! Those sleeves would have only hindered me and landed up in my dinner! Lol! I must prefer elbow length....thankfully it was easy to do! I am excited to style this up for much more A/W usage! xx
