Shirt tales

Taking some inspiration yet again from another one of those French Voguettes! This time it's the turn of Capucine Safyurtlu.
Now we are finally talking.....weather wise!! We are actually having a proper whiff of Spring and some sunshine. The perfect transitional item to whip out of the wardrobe for me is the shirt! At least half of my outfits over the past week have featured my new fashion favourite, so with the help of my new style heroine, I'll start sharing the shirt love with some khaki action from Capucine.

I've had my Primark utility shirt for a while now and have been itching to wear so I didn't waste the opportunity to steal this look as the sun has been shining today! Worn here with some off-white Primark skinnies that are a couple of seasons old and some ancient Zara leopard print flats. I should have been a bit smarter and donned a grey tee under the shirt as Capucine has done above as it was a bit nippy by the sea!

Another look that I have been coveting is this one. Love the crisp blue shirt with the white skinnies!

My version here with Topshop shirt, Jamie white skinnies and made slightly more half term friendly with my Vans in place of Capucine's fabulous heels!

Here's another little trio of looks that will be tried and tested forthwith!

Now this next shirt ensemble was inspired by a blogger much closer to home, the lovely Karen @Mission;Style, stolen from one of her amazing looks that can be found on her Instagram feed. My jacket is Superdry via T K Maxx some time ago, the shirt is Uniqlo past season, worn with Topshop Jamie's and the Van's again.

My Topshop white shirt has featured a couple of times over the past week. The first airing I wore it with Topshop jacket, Zara jeans, Vans and Jigsaw bag via eBay.

Second time around, Topshop shirt again with some ancient Topshop linen cargo trews and more Van's! Trying out that Parisienne favourite the *tuck* here!

Then there are the beginning of half term outfits when the weather was decidedly chillier!

Zara blazer, ancient
Primark Ramones t-shirt, current
H&M jeans, previous season
Converse hi-tops, currently with 20% off
Topshop snood. previous season

Topshop coat, previous season
H&M sweater previous season

Topshop coat, previous season
Gap sweatshirt, previous season
Gap original fit jeans, previous season

Gap denim jacket, ancient

Are you a fan of the shirt or do you have another transitional piece that tickles your fancy?!

As always I love reading and responding to your comments!

I promised to reveal what I've been stashing for my holiday....hope to bring that to you next time!

Be back soon!

Michelle xx

  1. I am a big fan of shirts Michelle, and also of the fabulously dressed Capucine.....Somehow these French fashion gals, just make it look so perfectly easy, I so much prefer this way of dressing to the over styled looks that are often so unuser friendly! Yeah, Michelle you pulled off as always some great looks here too....Love those khaki pants as you know.....Definitely a Voguette in the making! Helen xx

    1. Those Voguettes look just the right amount of disheveled don't they?! I need to perfect my *tuck* because I am so used to be neat and having eveyything look just so, but you are right these women look amazing because they haven't over-styled everything! Thank you for the lovely compliment Helen xx

  2. What a lovely round up of outfits to give me some inspiration. I'm afraid I have been rather slack on the old picture taking front but believe me my outfits have not been quite as inspired as yours. And I have those off white Primark skinnies too - I've not got to grips with mine yet ... maybe this year will be it's year.

I love the ancient Topshop linen cargo pants - I need those!

    1. That is praise indeed Sue, thank you! The sunshine has helped to make things easier this week, it is so nice to be able to shed the layers and lift your spirits! The Primark skinnies have certainly paid their dues for me, they only come out now and again but were very good for the money! Same with Topshop trews, bought in the sale but worth their weight in gold! xx

  3. I've been wondering what to wear with my khaki drapey joggers by day. I'm wondering if I can wear my white supergas and copy your look ( mercilessly)

I love all the voguette looks here and I wish I had their shoe wardrobe They must own some v comfy heels as they seem to wear them all the time.

    1. Ooh yes....get those Superga out, add a Breton and you'll be good to go! I am quite surprised by how the joggers can be considered they are a silky fabric but they are great to dress down for a more casual look.
Tell me about the Voguettes shoes, their outfits look so amazing with heels but I bet they have some comfy flats stashed under their desks ;0) xx

    1. Thank you Sue! I think my problem with shirts has been that I have always associated them with workwear and so have given them a wide berth but they are perfect to pair with any style of jeans which actually makes them so very versatile! They are brilliant for this inbetween weather too! The Vans have been amazing, so much so I think I may *need* another pair!! xx

  5. I have those ancient zara leopard sandals too! I bought them when I was pregnant with Elodie in 2011 & got in a huff over maternity jeans which were all rubbish. So I bought pretty sandals instead!! Lol.

  6. Oh I love a shirt, shades of white and blue all hang in my wardrobe, your Khaki one is great, a colour I have to personally layer, with a white or grey t-shirt next to my skin (khaki is not great on me) so I would wear that like jacket. Great outfits as ever Michelle, you certainly know your style!! You look great.x

    1. You do shirts so well Annmarie, and I do love the idea of teaming the grey and khaki, they work really well together! I should have dome that with that outfit as although it was sunny we were by the coast and it wasn't as warm as it looked! xx

    1. Yep the Voguettes are definitely my style heroines at the moment Andrea, they can do no wrong in my eyes! I have had a couple of white shirts...too fitted and it makes them feel a bit workwear if you know what mean! The Topshop one is a bit more square in shape and for me that makes it perfect! xx

    1. Pinterest can be such a dangerous place Becky.....I lose a lot of hours trawling it and those hours invariably end up hitting my pocket hard as I always ending stumbling across some must-have item, cue some online shopping! There is just so much inspo to be found there though, I love it!
Bless the photographer....we are now nailing it in one or two shots! Not bad is it?! xx
