Inside my style mind!

Ok, so this Zara jacket is my latest acquisition. Inspired by 3 or 4 people. How did I reach the conclusion I needed this jacket in my life?! Well, here goes.....

First off, I saw this post by Donna and became very enamoured by her military jacket (love the way Donna has styled it herself!).....the cogs were already whirring as you will see by the comment I left saying how I thought it would be perfect with a pair of boyfriends and my Adidas Stan Smiths (I was already thinking that a jacket would be my next purchase too!).

Low and behold the very next day I see this fabulous post from Becky here showcasing just the item I need in my life....the aforementioned military jacket! Now Becky has stolen the style of the one that we all worship at the *Alt* of.....as you can see here!

Cue a little try on! Starting off with the boyfriends and Stans!

Gap original jeans (similar here)
Adidas Stan Smith's (via eBay, buy here)

Trying to channel the *Alt* a bit more here!

Uniqlo urban sweat pants (A/W 2014, similar here from ASOS)
Zara shoes (via eBay)

My next purchase goes perfectly with both of my recent purchases. There was a certain annual bloggers meet up in London Town last weekend....it's a big stress to dress for anyway when you know you are going to be in a room with so many stylish ladies. I knew I would be going out after and going to the Wembley cup final the following day. I didn't want to lug a suitcase around so I needed to cram my overnight stuff and a couple outfit up-daters in a small Longchamp tote! I felt the need to take a dressy shoe for the evening.....just in case! I wore my Converse there as they were ideal for pounding the pavements on Saturday & Sunday. I managed to snag these little Zara beauties on eBay and was relieved that they arrived just in time to stow in my tote!

These little kitten heeled courts would have been perfect to spruce up my daytime outfit of H&M faux leather leggings and Tux jacket. Did I actually wear the shoes....did I heck! It lashed down and so the Converse stayed on. Here's the outfit I wore.

H&M tux jacket (current, here, this comes up small, I bought a 14!)
Alexander Wang Tee (similar here)
H&M faux leather leggings (current, here)
Balenciaga bag (ancient, though similar here)

I managed to score another complete and utter bargain thanks to those lovely ladies on Avenue 57! Yes I know I keep banging on about them but there really is some fabulous stuff being shared there so if you haven't already signed up I suggest you head on over there now! I managed to grab this gorgeous leather look skirt in my local Sainsburys for a mere £6.60! Paired with the new Zara shoes and a little J Crew sweater, well...happy outfit days!

Sainbury's leather look skirt (sadly found instore, not online)

I think the new jacket goes perfectly over this too!

On so onto this weeks outfits....

  1. Excellent choices, especially that button jacket. Reminds me of one Ralph Lauren Denim and Supply has I've been lusting after. Right now I'm inspired by Spring and Summer color since I've been in black and neutrals mostly for months. I could never grow tired of black and neutrals, just thirsty for some color around this time of year.

    1. Thank you Joni! I do crave a pop of colour but I always seem to end up bouncing right back to black! Must try a bit harder! xx

  2. I'm such a wally, I commented on your picture on Instagram without even thinking about that jacket being in my midweek post! It looks fabulous with those boyfriends, I love the whole outfit, and I'm glad I could help bring you a bit of inspiration - thankyou for the mention! I love your pea coat with the flares too, that column of colour that Donna talks about really does work brilliantly, doesn't it? xx

    1. Yep....it's the very one that had me scuttling off into Bristol straightaway! And I so needed the inspiration! This jacket is a beauty and I'm already planning loads of different looks around....think it will look great with the flares too!
Wasn't Donna right about the column of colour! That has to be my favourite outfit of last week! xx

    1. I was afraid you might say that Fiona...please don't hate me!! How could I not purchase when so many of the A57 ladies made it look so ace!! Always happy to share my sources of inspiration and there are some fabulous new stylish ladies showing and sharing on there at the mo!

I see me getting a lot of wear out of the military jacket...would have worn it today had it not been lashing down! xx

  6. Michelle I am loving the military trend, and really like how you have worked it in with your look, especially with that skirt, what a bargain! I have an oldie khaki military jacket hiding somewhere, which I am going to give a fresh start too this season. Great inspiration as always......Now just where is that jacket??!!! Helen xx

    1. Thank you Helen! Sometimes you just see something and know it will work with so much in your wardrobe...that is exactly what I thought when I saw Donna's jacket! Fingers crossed you can find that jacket!! xx

  7. I would never have guessed that you had that little jacket on the brain and it looks fab with the boyfriends and Stans. You know me! And the shoes are so cute - I've tried them on before and I have such fat feet, they just don't work on me :(

And an extra little mention should go to Gracie for that fab photo she took of you at the end. My credits always go to my tripod. Sad isn't it?

    1. I didn't know I *needed* it either Sue but what once the seed was sown I was for once onto it straightaway!! I didn't want to miss the boat as I knew it had the potential to be a great outfit builder for me!
I love the shoes too....luckily I have a couple of nights out coming up so they won't be sitting in the wardrobe long before they get their first airing!
Bless Gracie...the girl did do good! She is so chuffed with herself, it's probably about time we got her a good camera so she can practice! xx

  8. I have been waxing lyrical about the inspiration and ideas (and, lets face it, helpful opinions) over at Avenue 57 too. I love it. I don't get any work done but I love it. You look splendid, as ever, and that skirt is a momentous bargain!! I am also loving the final photo. Beautiful. You looked stunning, on Saturday, and I am looking forward to seeing you again soon. What a great buy the skirt was....chuffed to bits the only one they had left fit!!
Thank you for the lovely comment about Saturday...you looked pretty splendid too! xx

  9. That skirt is an incredible bargain and looks fab on you. But the real winner is that super jacket ... oh wow! just love it. Am sitting here trying to justify it, but I honestly can't buy another black jacket. Don't suppose it comes in other colours does it??

    1. Thank you Helen, as I am not known for a donning a skirt all that often I can absolutely justify the £6.60 spent on this one! I can't believe I only had 2 skirts in my wardrobe up to a month ago....I've now doubled that tally!!
I don't think they do the jacket in another colour.....but I am now off to double check that! xx

    1. Thank you Sarah! I am not blessed with much bust which I think means I can get away with this kind of jacket! There is a fastening at the bottom which would not make the jacket look flattering on anyone and I suspect if you had any more upfront than me it would possibly draw the eye where you wouldn't want it to be! So I hear where you are coming from!
The outfit with the jeans and the pea coat is the best I have felt in the flares yet! They are a tricky shape to style I am finding xx

Can i just ask how the jacket from zara comes up as there jackets often come up small and large is sold out? I m usually a 12. :)

  21. Ok so we really need to hang out some more - how many amazing ebay finds to you get?!?!?! Love that jacket on you, I have a slight jacket/coat addiction at the mo so I'm avoiding them at all costs! And your Gap jumper, I think I may have the same in the khaki - has it worn well? Mine not so much, but I paid £4.99 for it so I've had my monies worth x

    1. Well....with our planned shopping trip coming up soon, your wish is going to come true! ;0) I've just done a tally and I've managed to notch up 3 jackets in the past few weeks so that will have to be my lot too! The Gap sweater is years old and it one that managed to hold up well....they don't make them like they used to! xx

  22. So I guess I need the Zara jacket as it looks cool with so many different things - you wouldn't believe how much online shopping it's possible to do sat by the pool! My justification is that I haven't spent any 'real' money for two weeks - only holiday money lol xxx
