Getting *dressed*!

If you look over my recent posts, I think it is apparent I am not good with skirts or dresses at this time of year. I am a jean lover come Autumn/Winter that is for sure! However, I do have a gaping hole in the wardrobe for a dress that I can wear with tights and boots.....it would also be really fantastic if I could dress it up with heels for an evening out too! So, what have I plumped for?! Without further ado......

So here I am trying to replicate this gorgeous look with the drop waist jersey dress from Hush......complete with fedora!

Hush dress (current, here free delivery at the mo! Code HNV14)
Office boots (Winter 2013, similar here)
Accessorize leaf necklace (current, can't find online)
Primark fedora (current)

This dress is perfect for me, being jersey it is great for daywear but it is easy to dress up, especially if you have a day to evening affair (I am thinking it will be fab for my work Christmas do!)! I've given a bit of a rock-chick edge here with my biker jacket and leopard print shoes!

DKNY biker jacket (c/o T K Maxx, old)
Hush dress (current, here)
Marks and Spencer leopard print shoes (Winter 2013)
Primark necklace (Autumn/Winter 2013)

Styled like this is would be great for our neighbours Christmas drinks party with my H&M lacey flats and M&S leopard print coat!

M&S Limited Edition coat (current, here)
Hush dress (current, here)
H&M lace ballet pumps (current, here)
New Look Pendant (Summer 2013)

For a more school run look, I can cosy it up with my Topshop oversize cardy.

Topshop oversize cardigan (current, here)
Hush dress (current, here)
Nine West biker boots (ancient)
Necklace (old, Hi-Hi Oxted)

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg with what I could do with this little dress, it is so versatile that it got me scouring the High Street to see what other dresses tickled my fancy!

The Zara check dress dress would look fab with the biker boots and fedora again!

I also love this Zara polo shirt collar dress a bit smarter but could easily be dressed up or down!

This River Island shirt dress is gorgeous, I am loving the splash of red!

I saw a lady buying this River Island leather look dress whilst I was returning something so I snuck off to the fitting room to try it! It's leather look front but the back is jersey which made it that much more wearable!

This is much more casual but something I could see myself getting a lot of wear out of with boots! Uniqlo urban sweatshirt dress.

And finally Whistles leopard print dress via ASOS I have had a lot of luck with Whistles dresses in the past and this subtle jersey dress caught my eye as leopard print is neutral don't you know!

Do you have a favourite? Will you be purchasing a dress for Autumn/Winter? Anyone come up with any other little stunners that I may of missed?

A few recent outfits!

Uniqlo Lulu Guiness sweatshirt (currently out of stock but other Lulu styles here)
Uniqlo Urban sweat pants (out of stock, but similar here
Superga Lamew (Summer 2014, here)

Boden Off Duty sweater (bought from clearance sale, similar here)
Dorothy Perkins jeggings (Winter 2012, similar here)
Superga Lamew (Summer 2014, here)
New look beanie (Winter 2013)

Gap merino sweater (Autumn 2013, similar here)
Brave Soul shirt via ASOS (similar here)
Gap skinnies (old, outlet premium skinny)
Clarks Lolly Dawson boots (current, here)

Topshop coat (current, here)
J Crew sweater (thanks to Sue)
H&M patchwork jeans (current, here)
Adidas Stan Smith (via eBay, buy from Office here)
H&M bag (current, can't find online but still in stores)

I *may* have already purchased one of the dresses I've featured here....any guesses as to which one? ;0) What's your favourite way that I've styled the Hush dress? All opinions gratefully received!

As always I love reading and responding to your comments!

Be back soon!

Michelle xx

  1. I love the cardi and biker boots! I can see you in any of those other dresses too! I have a Hush sweatshirt dress that I wear all the time - it's so much more comfortable than jeans - and I've just ordered the Boden drop waist dress with 25% off, so I'm hoping that'll be a keeper!

  3. Love the Hush dress and how you have styled it. Sadly at just 5foot 3 I think it will be a dodgy length on me. Also really like your denim and grey outfit at the end of the post, off to window shop at Topshop!

  4. How funny Michelle...I very nearly bought the exact same dress in the charcoal colour, but I then got a voucher through from Boden plus 25% discount & so I ordered their version which is nearly identical: http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Day-Dresses/WH729/Womens-Drop-Waist-Tunic-Dress.html?NavGroupID=4&newpage=true
I've worn it lots already & very similarly to your school run look! Love the other styling ideas you've put together, it looks fab with your Bet coat. I shall pinch the biker jacket & heels one, thank you very much! ;) Love the Uniqlo dress! x

  10. That's a fab little dress - amazing how many looks you can get out of it! Have I got a favourite look? I think my vote is for the grey cardi and biker boots - comfy and casual. I'm pretty much like you, I don't mind getting the legs out in the summer but come autumn and winter, I like to pack them away. I really ought to take a leaf out of your book though and try something different. Maybe this week might be my week to wear a dress!

  20. Love love love! The dress is STUNNING on you and I love how you have styled it so many different ways. I WISH I could wear dropped waist dresses but I don't think I can due to my pear shape. The dropped waist seam only serves to emphasise my hips - if it fits at all - if I got bigger it is too big at the top! I need to find another substitute dress that can be worn day or into evening - the only kind of dress I would wear unless going to a wedding or ball! Otherwise it is jeans all the way for me - or leather leggings.

    1. Thanks so much Carol for the lovely comment! It is great to have found a dress that is so versatile and can be dressed so easily up or down! I generally struggle with sizing too as I have no bust but I have hips!! I seem to have more success with jersey dresses or something with a bit of give rather than structure!! As usual though I retreated straight back into my comfort zone of jeans once I road tested the dress ;0) xx

  21. I love the dress on you, Michelle. My favourite look is with the oversized cardigan and the biker boots - perfect laid back chic! I don't suit drop waist dresses either but you certainly do - you should definitely wear more dresses! Lynne xx
