New shoes

And so I have. No prizes for guessing what my latest acquisition is.....more slides to be precise!! Even though I promised myself I would not cave and buy anymore shoes this season, I am guilty of a big fat fail! I just so happened to come across one last pair of the River Island white slides, in the sale and in my size! Obviously it was meant to be! Sadly these do now seem to be sold out online (unless you are after the black patent version, see here) you may get lucky in store though. Here they are on me!

Another shoe mantra I seem to be living by!

Well almost! They can certainly bring new life to old favourites clothing wise!

So, this post started off as a review of my best purchases so far this season. Then I realised it would all about shoes. You see, it is all about the shoes! For me they have been the staple of every outfit....it has been the shoe bringing the outfit up-to-date. I kicked off with the Kurt Geiger Laurel skaters. These are one of my favourite footwear purchases ever, they made even the plainest of outfits feel on trend! The good news is they are back in stock again!

After the success of the Laurel's I saw the Kurt Geiger Madison's and knew I would have to invest in these too! Espadrilles are every where this season, again they make the simplest outfit feel that bit edgier! These have been brilliant with everything from boyfriend jeans to a dress! These are still available too!

On the dressier shoe front.....well there have been 2 superb purchases, both in the way of black sandals! Yep, we are back to Kurt Geiger again! It was love at first sight with these Marant tributes! The KG Kad's have that very useful in-between block heel. Great for feeling a bit more dressier for day, but without a mega heel!

These gorgeous M&S Autohgraph cage sandals caught my eye back in April and I knew they would be the perfect sandal for an event when you are in need of a heel! I think these will be a wardrobe staple for years to come. Sadly stocks of these are long gone.

And so back to my obsession of the season. The slide. So I started off by buying the Pinterest inspired Birkenstock Arizona. If you are looking for a good deal on these I bought mine via Amazon.

Then of course more recently I stumbled across the Next Look silver slides and they became my wardrobe go-to as I love metallics in summer as they are such a great neutral! The silver has pretty much sold out but there is still stock in the mint and white.

Confession time now!! I am just a little bit ashamed to admit that back at the start of the season I did go a bit barmy by trying to fill a stiletto shaped hole in the wardrobe. I bought not one, not two but three pairs of shoes that I am yet to wear but I am sure to *need* at some point. The silver and nude courts were from Marks and Spencer and the black one's are New Look courtesy of ASOS. I think it is safe to assume that I am now fully stocked for an Autumn/Winter evening shoe!

So there we are! As you can see this season for me has indeed been all about new shoes! What has been your Achille's heel?

Here's what I've been wearing this past week.....

We have been blessed with some gorgeous weather which means more opportunity to get some of the high summer clothing out!

Gap dress (outlet, old)
Birkenstock Arizona's (current via Amazon.)
New Look pendant (last year)

H&M top (old)
Vero Modo shorts (old)
Birkenstock Gizeh's (gifted by Sharon from @Thrift My Style)
Mulberry Araline bag (old)

Alexander Wang top (via Fashion Bloodhound)
Mango trousers (last year)
 Birkenstock Arizona's (current via Amazon.)
Marc Jacobs bag (old)

Topshop t-shirt (current season, no longer in stock)
River Island slides (current, out of stock online)

Gap shirt (last year)
H&M jeans (old)
River Island slides (current, out of stock online)

River Island slides (current, out of stock online)

Zara top (last year)
Topshop trousers (old)
Birkenstock Gizeh's (gifted by Sharon from @Thrift My Style)
Mulberry Araline bag (old)

This is the outfit I wore for a little blogger meet up with the lovely Sharon from @Thrift My Style. The weather was not on our side as it lashed down pretty much the whole time we walked around Bath. However the sun did at last make an appearance allowing a cheeky alfresco drink before we parted! As usual there is no photographic evidence.....we were way too busy having a good time to remember such things :0)

River Island jacket (old)
Topshop cami (old)
Gap original fit jeans (last summer)
Jaeger pumps (old)
Hugo Boss bag (old)

The proof is in the pudding! As you can see from what I've been wearing most of the clothes are old favourites that have been bought up-to-date with new shoes!

As always I love reading and responding to your comments!

Wishing everyone a great week!

Michelle xx

  6. Love all your shoe choices and honestly - we really do sing from the same hymn sheet when it comes to fashion because it's been all about the shoes for me as well. I find that the right shoes just bring an outfit to life and yourself back on trend. The rest of the clothes just fit around the shoes. And I basically did what you did - covered off the slider/fugly sandals in the basic colour ways - black, white and silver as they just go with everything!

But where I'm lagging behind is the stiletto pointy courts - I must get on the case!

    1. You know the one slide I am really kicking myself for not getting Sue is the Pieces black slide that you have!! I really convinced myself I didn't *need* them because I had the Birkenstock Arizona's!! I think they are another classic that will be around for years to come, so I may still yet invest in something similar if I can find! I have also been sorely tempted by more espadrilles!! I love the Topshop nude Koalas and have even caught myself looking at the cream and black Chanel tributes! Question is where do you stop and say no to more shoes when they are the backbone of every outfit!! I think I need to turn my attention to A/W now and start the research for what is to come next.....trainers or boots?! xx

    1. I know I will need the stiletto's at some point......luckily there were under £20 a pair each so I don't mind if they languish in my wardrobe for a bit......their time will come!

  13. Oh you make me laugh! And frankly it's just annoying how good all these flat fugly shoes look on you ... they look awful on me. Also, for any of your Irish readers, the M&S cage sandals are still available and on sale, in the Dundrum branch in Dublin - a good range of sizes too!

    1. Thank you Helen, my love for the fugly shoe has known no bounds this season!! I think Fiona is after a pair of the M&S sandals so she may be in contact with you ;0) xx

  14. What is it about shoes, that makes us all go so silly?! All your shoe purchases look entirely justified to me, but I do know what you mean about the courts, once summer comes it is all about the flip flops/sliders, and unless you have an occasion to go to we don't put our feet into anything enclosed unless its wellies for the rain! But for me your ultimate shoe purchase this summer, was the New Look silver sliders.......Just so cool looking! xx

    1. Urgh....the thought of my feet being enclosed in anything at the moment is yuk Helen! Even the KG sandals felt rotten after walking around Bath yesterday....I couldn't wait to get home and get the slides on! The New Look slides have been such a fab purchase, so reasonable, so comfortable and they feel pretty darn stylish for £17.99! xx

  15. No way am I admitting to my shoe purchases this year!!! I started with my Birkenstock and Avarcas obsession, sneakers, then ancient Greeks and more recently stilettos and wedges!! I have those M&S nude and silver ones they were so cheap I couldn't not! Xx

    1. Nope Joanna.....don't worry I won't be catching up with your shoes purchases anytime soon! Lol.....you have well and truly beaten me hands down and I am very envious of your collection!!
The M&S courts were a great buy......fab for the money even if you only end up wearing them once or twice!! xx

  16. I love all of your shoes purchases Michelle! I tried on the silver M&S points a while back but knew I wouldn't get use out of them just yet & didn't get them! I bagged a pair of white sliders in the Next sale, the last pair in my size too & I'm so thrilled with them! Love all of your outfits but the 1st one is my fav! You look great! Ax
