Holiday organisation!

6 weeks until we are off! Counting down.....

I am well previous when it comes to this sort of thing! I am not off my hols until August but the cogs are already whirring with regards to what I will take! I am ruthless! It's not capsule packing as you would know it but the whole content of my suitcase is planned within an inch of it's life!! So my list starts off with what I will wear in the evenings first. So I present you with the 6 dresses that I am taking......

Right River Island dress, see me wearing it here (think this is a beach cover up really, so may go over a bikini later in the week!)

Next up are the shoes, bags and accessories. I will only pack 3 pairs of shoes and wear one pair!

H&M purse (old)
River Island chain mail purse (old)

Not forgetting hats and shades!

Few bits of jewellery to bling things up! I never take any of the good stuff.....paranoid of losing anything sentimental or valuable! I will probably fling a scarf in too!

Primark spike necklace (last year)
H&M chunky crystal necklace (last year)
H&M neon bracelets (lots of other bits added)

I always take a trusty denim jacket just in case!

And so onto the breakfast/poolside outfits

H&M dress (new purchase)
Havaianas (old)
M&S bikini (outlet, old)

Primark pink stripe t-shirt (current)
Next boob tube (ancient)
Ondademar bikini (T K Maxx, old)
Topshop denim shorts (ancient)
Havaianas

Obviously I reckon a few more bits and pieces will get smuggled in.....the sales are set to hit us full force before then so there is bound to be an addition or 2?! I do also seem to make a purchase whilst on holiday so I need to think about leaving room for those too! Although looking over what I intend to pack has made me realise that a lot of what I take isn't actually new, they are mostly old favorites that I've had for years. Let's face it....our summers are generally pretty dismal and so the high summer bits only see the light of day a couple of times a year so they still look pristine and of course we add to what we already have each year too!

Onto the usual round up of outfits from the past few days.

Zara top (current)
Zara boyfriend jeans (last year)
Kurt Geiger Madison (current)

Gap dress (ancient)
New Look silver slides (new)
H&M necklace

Zara sweatshirt t (last year, holiday purchase)
Mango jeans (old)
New Look silver sliders (new)
H&M necklace (last year)

Whistles sweater (gift)
New Look boyfriend shorts (last year)
New Look silver slides (recent purchase)

Mango dress (this season)
Zara sandals (ancient)

So.....are you super organised and like me plan way in advance or do you fling it all in at the last minute and hope for the best! I always pack for all 3 of us and split our stuff across cases so that if a case goes missing we all have stuff to last a few days! I like to be prepared for pretty much any scenario!! What about you?

I do love reading and responding to your comments!

See you soon!

Michelle xx

  1. I'm making a list and checking it twice. Only 4.weeks to go. The new sliders look great. .... I adore your Mango dress but like you I always bring out the old favourites for holidays as there are so few occasions to wear high summer items that are already in my wardrobe

    1. You are so right...we do get so few occasions to wear the high summer stuff! I think the things I am packing for the evenings are a bit dressier than normal this year for that very reason....if you don't where it on holiday when are you going to wear it!
I ended up with the little navy H&M dress after I went in search of the tribal print sundress you blogged about a few weeks ago....the navy one was a bit more flattering on me though! So thank you for the inspiration xx

  4. I'm not going away until October so hoping to pick up some sale items and looking to all the blogs for inspiration!
I haven't been abroad for a few years so don't have much in the way of holiday clothes and looking to up my game a bit in the style stakes anyway.
Any tips for a size 16 40something gratefully received!

    1. Hi Kirsty! You are sure to be able to grab some great items in the sales! Next sale hasn't started yet and I have bought some stuff there is in the past that has lasted for years! I think strapless dresses, that are shirred at the top and empire line are pretty good for all shapes and sizes, New Look always have some pretty ones, they are good for dressing up in the evening with some pretty sandals and jewellery but can also be worn around the pool during the daytime with flip flops. H&M do some great little jersey numbers and they have just gone into sale so you will find some good bargains in there too! Empire line maxi dresses are always a good option and again I've seen these in New Look and H&M. I would check out Primark as well as they always have some great holiday gear!! Hope this helps! xx

    2. That's great - thank you. I don't want to spend too much on holiday items as, living in Scotland, I get even less opportunity to wear them! So also hoping to get some every say items too.

    3. You are welcome :0) If you stick with some classics they should last year after year for your hols! It's probably best to stick with a theme like monochrome and add a bit of colour! Getting some maxi skirts (Primark have some great ones or try Matalan) and try with some camisole tops so that you can easily mix and match which is another good option. Now is the perfect time to shop for holiday stuff whilst it's all going on sale!

  5. I love how organised you are! I have the navy H&M dress & I love it, it will be great for just throwing on at the beach/pool! Still love the Mango dress & your Zara sandals are fab! Loving your outfits as always....apparently the weather is due to change later in the week (I knew it was too good to be true!!) so make the most of the shorts!) x

    1. I plan so far in advance for the annual holiday....I don't think I am as organised over anything else Sian!! The H&M dress is superb isn't it! I've gone for a few darker colours as as much as I love white, it does tend to turn a bit yellow with the use of sun cream, the navy's and grey's should hide a multitude of sins! Looks as this shall be the last day for the shorts.....have a maxi dress planned for tomorrow! xx

  8. I always love how holiday wear means you find a reason for a bit of escapism fashion wise........A bit of Ibiza hippy chic, cross St Tropez jet set, cross surfer dude! That's why think holiday clothes just go on because it only works when you are in hot climates! It doesn't look quite the same in the uk when you are pushing the trolley round Tesco's!!

    1. You are spot on....there is a real mix up of styles here that I would only get away on holiday! These clothes have lasted me forever because they only see the light of day once or twice a year! It's just as well as I'd feel a bit of a berk swanning around in Tesco's in most of this gear...lol xx

    1. I've seen your packing pins on Pinterest Lynne....you are going to be super organised by the looks of things! I love seeing how others really get the maximum mileage out of their holiday wardrobes by mixing and matching in the same colour palettes! You did a great job of that with your holiday wardrobe this year! xx

  11. Oh to be as organised as you! I am so going to try this year, feeling very inspired. The Mango dress is divine, it belongs on you! And the new look sliders caught my eye in a 'yes I'll have those' kind of a way!

  12. I'm not organised at all - I'm a list maker and the night before or the morning of, I just go round the house and collect everything up. I tried to do a post like this when I went to Greece a couple of years back and failed miserably. The holiday came before I realised it and then my wifi went kaput so I couldn't do a blog post anyway. It was all conspiring against me. We're not going anywhere this year but that's a good thing or else I'd be totally going over the top. I bought 5 pairs of shorts when I went to Greece as it was. But I totally agree that never take expensive jewellery - intact, don't take anything precious. I take cheapish clothes so if they get spoiled (suncream) I don't fret. But I like your idea of splitting stuff up across cases - a bit like what the Royal family do … but with people :o)

And I ordered those silver sandals of yours … but they don't fit - wahhhhh!

    1. You surprise me Sue! I would have had you down as being v.organised!! You managed to make sure you had 5 pairs of shorts for your last holiday!! Lol! I guess it depends on what kind of holiday I'm going on as to how organised I would be! This year we are in a hotel so I know I can dress up a bit for the evenings and I know I will need a certain amount of modest clothing to go to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, that has helped me to plan! I try not to take anything on holiday that I would be devasted if it got lost....I am now very cautious about what I take and how I pack because of that one year our case was lost but luckily turned up the following day!! Shame the New Look sliders didn't work out but I bet you find a great alternative...look forward to seeing what you get!! xx

  13. Nope! I am with you too. Our holiday is not till August either but as soon as a couple of things arrive that ordered in the Mango sale I will also be sorting my wardrobe out. Well we need plenty of time to fill up any holes...!

    1. Oh good Amanda...so nice to hear I'm not alone in my forward thinking!! At least going on August does mean we get to fill any of the holiday wardrobe holes and have the advantage of being get some good stuff in the sales!! xx

  14. You really are super organised. I hate packing. Absolutely despise it and usually leave it til the very very last moment. However, when my daughter was very tiny, I made a list on our return of the clothes that actually got worn, (which was a lot less than I had brought) and each year I drag that out to help me decide what to bring. But I really, truly hate it ... it's an absolute chore!
