A yearning!

I have a yearning! Ok, I'll admit I have lots of  yearnings but right now it's a bag shaped yearning! I'm after something quite specific here! I'm looking to add a black crossbody style to my collection but it must have silver hardware. I already have a lovely Marc Jacobs nylon satchel type bag but it has gold trimmings. I confess to being on the mix-y match-y side.... I don't like to mix metals though?! Silly isn't it?! But it's hard to break the habit of a lifetime and yes I really have it that bad that it warrants adding another bag to the already heaving collection! So the research begins. First stop......Longchamp. I want quality but I don't want to spend a fortune. I want functional....but still fashionable. Lets dive straight in! I have the Planetes tote which I love This one is a nylon messenger with leather trim which I know will be lightweight and it fits the rest of my criteria perfectly so it is topping my list at the moment!

Next up are a couple of leather offerings from Longchamp, this one looks lovely and soft.

Love the silver toggle on this one! This has a more structured feel about the shape and is perhaps a bit more formal than the first 2!

This Coccinelle one at House of Fraser has also caught my eye, I love the simplicity of this one! It's got that wallet on a chain....well....ok.....wallet on a strap thing about it!

I stumbled across this little collage on Pinterest which made me peruse the Zatchels website and oh my, do they have some goodies! Love this outfit......one to re-create me-thinks?! Sorry, I digress but it's all in a good cause!

Onto the classic Zatchel satchel style.... very old skool cool!

Also loving the saddle bag style which is probably a better size and shape for me

This quilted saddle has me swooning....just gorgeous!

I also found a couple of more reasonable high street options from Mango. Professing to love all things quilted here!

Yet more quilting....gorgeous tassel on this too!

On the whole I have found it fairly hard to find silver hardware out there so my choices are very limited.....which can only be a good thing right?! Decisions, decisions!

Any favourites amongst this little selection........which one would you go for? If you were a betting woman which one do you think I will end up with? Would you happened to have stumbled across any other black messenger bags with the elusive silver fixtures and fittings?? Dare I ask what are you yearning after at the moment?

Here's what I've been sporting these past few days......I've been dressed down a fair bit as have spent most of half term at home. It's been lovely to just have lots of lazy days! Back to normal now though!

First up I'm trying the new Primarni baseball jacket with navy as opposed to black....the body part of the jacket is navy wool like fabric and the sleeves are black pleather.

I have promised myself no more purchases until next month.....luckily there are only 4 days to go! Lol! Can't believe it is almost March, where has the time gone?!

As always I look forward to hearing your thoughts and responding to them!

Wishing everyone a great week :0)

  1. Hi my dear!! I love your bag picks, in particular the 2nd Longchamp one, it may initially be pricey but I think will be a definite style investment! Love your casual chic outfits too, the Primark jacket was definitely worth getting and I'm sure goes with so much in your wardrobe! Hope you're well and having a great week! xxx

    1. Hey Sharon! Dare I say it but I am trying to be a bit less is more, as in going for investment pieces!! The 2nd Longchamp choice looks lovely and soft and is nice and plain so it would well worth the investment!
Would never envisaged that I could work the bomber for evening as well as day so it is turning out to be a lot more versatile than I thought! xx

  3. I'm like you Michelle, too many fashion yearnings!

As well as a pair of gold skater shoes I made the mistake of looking at some boots at Moda in Pelle yesterday so now I've added a pair of tan ankle boots to the list ... oh and a grey Gap blazer.

My fave bags are the Longchamp with the silver toggle - that is cute and also the quilted saddle bag but I am a sucker for details!

  4. I love the first Longchamp bag...that would be the one I'd go for! I don't 'need' anything & really need to have a good wardrobe sort out to remind me of what I've got!! However, I'm after a new navy blazer & a denim dress (having been looking for the perfect one for ages!!).

I love your KG skater shoes...just gorgeous! x

    1. The first choice Longchamp kicked my search off Sian and I keep going back to it!! I could really do with a good de-clutter too! Love getting my Spring/Summer stuff out and rediscovering the stuff I've got!
I love the skater shoes so much.....may have to invest in some more.....don't want these to be worn out before the better weather arrives! ;0) xx

  5. I have a black Anya Hindmarch Gracie with silver hardware, it's not a messenger but across body which was something I was lacking. It also makes a great clutch for evening if you tuck the strap in so does double up. My favourite of your picks is the second Longchamp just like Sharon, can't wait to see what you get x

    1. I think I'd like to line all the bags up and give them the once over and try them for size! I've discounted the 2 Mango ones as they look very synthetic in the flesh and they are not going to accomodate everything and the kitchen sink!
Bomber was the best bargain ever for a tenner wasn't it?! xx

  7. I like the 2nd Lonchamp one and the plain saddle bag, the satchels remind me of school too much! Have you ever looked at Rebecca Minkoff, she's a New York based designer - I've got a black mini mac which you can wear across body she does a larger mac too. The straps are detachable too so it can be a clutch. Gorgeous night out outfit and the baseball jacket is an insane bargain. Xx

Gotta love that baseball jacket......it's going down as one of my best purchases ever.......good old Primarni! xx

Michelle, love your style and have been looking for exactly the same style bag as you and have fallen deeply for the Longchamp Gatsby Sport Crossbody bag. I have seen it in the flesh and it is utterly divine. Lightweight supple leather with matt silver hardware. Swoon, swoon, but at a price. Do google. I think it is really really difficult to get the right black bag but to my mind this is the one. Online pics don't do it justice. Do peep before you commit. I think it's definitely one to watch in the sales. Btw it comes in 2 if not 3 different sizes, not sure if they're all online. Liz

  11. This might be a long shot...but I love the bags from Roots, which is Canadian (like me). They have been around for 40 years and all their leather goods are made here in Toronto, with gorgeous leather (Italian). They have lots of black bags with silver hardware. I own several bags (and have done since my first one in the 80s), as well as boots, and can vouch for quality and style. From a quick look at their website, it appears they ship all over the world, but I think that you have to go on the USA side of the site. They can be expensive, however, pounds to dollars works to your advantage.

  12. I completely agree.. silver hardware is really hard to find as most are made with gold. I have just ordered a bag from Fossil and found it hard to choose as they had some lovely ones, really good quality and at a good price to.. so maybe worth a look!!

  13. My favourite is the second Longchamp bag. Absolutely loving your new Kurt Geiger skater shoes and your Zara sweatshirt in the last pic. You always look so effortlessly stylish. I am going to the Mulberry outlet in a couple of weeks! Did they have the Dorset tote bag?!! Abbi x

Yes they did have some Dorset totes in the factory shop....definately remember them having a tan and maybe an animal print....can vouch for that being an awesome bag to....the hubby bought it for me in black x

  14. This made me laugh, I know exactly what you mean about hardware. I have a black blazer with silver buttons - they annoy the life out of me as I tend to wear warmer tones which look better with gold. I could always change them I suppose. Love all your outfits (as always). x

  15. I love this selection of bags. Silver hardware is a tricky one. I have purchased one from Whistles with gold hardware. I love it, reminds me of Tom Ford ( if you squint slightly as it is not as 'full on' as TF ) I had a moment of weakness as I really wanted a coloured bag, doh. Still loving your' looks that you are trying out and I do follow you on Pinterest. xx

Bloomin' Pinterest!! Really need to get some order in the house as it is all so random look wise! Could do with some proper organisation....still as addicted to it as ever though :0) x

  16. Gorgeous bags! I love the quilted saddle bag too! The texture really makes it special! I'm like you with the mixing of metals theres just too much going on otherwise! Love your outfits! I need a job so I can get spending again! You are a bad influence Michelle! ;) Ax
