Taking inspiration!

I've made no secret of my recent obsession with Pinterest.....there is no doubt it has helped me heaps in my recent budget challenge! It's certainly made me look over my wardrobe with a fresh set of eyes and it has helped to re-ignite my passion with some of my old faithfuls and favourites! So over these past few days I've been putting together a few ensembles which are loosely based on some of the outfits that I've pinned! These are my interpretations as I haven't been able to completely copy! It is fun pulling things together which you may not have thought about putting together and getting wear out of some items you may have overlooked or forgotten about! I recommend that you go forth and play!

Here is my first attempt. As you will probably have gathered I am loving a shirt and sweater combo at the moment!

My version which consists of Mango sweater, Gap Shirt, Zara jeans and ASOS loafers

Next up the inspiration was found here

I love this look but have previously struggled to work mixing the stripe and check look.....it's so out of my comfort zone! But hey.....now's it's another one of those clothing fears I have overcome like I did with the double denim a couple of posts back!

My adaptation.....bling and all!

Here's the complete look adapted for the school run!

Here I'm wearing Topshop Parka, Uniqlo shirt, H&M Breton, Zara Jeans, Converse hi-tops and Mulberry Seth bag.

And lastly this lovely outfit

Here is my copy

This is a DKNY leather biker jacket with, H&M stripe top, Topshop Baxters and H&M pumps.

Although I did actually end up wearing it like this purely as it was a tad more conducive to the weather!

This version is Whistles biker jacket, H&M top, Topshop Baxter jeans, H&M pumps and Oasis scarf.

So now you can see the inspiration for some of my recent purchases! I have spent a fair few hours pouring over the looks getting ideas. If you would like to peruse my pins you can do so here.

Are you feeling the Pinterest love? Does it give you lots of inspiration? Does it tempt you or help you put looks together? Has it motivated any new purchases you have made? Would love to hear how you use it!

Look forward to hearing your comments as always! Michelle x

  1. Oh my Lordy Michelle my Husband has threatened to burn my iPad I am on Pinterest so much!! I, like you, find lots of inspiration. I do get slightly miffed when I cannot replicate the looks completely. This may be due to the fact that lots of the looks are modelled by young, tall birds with fabulous hair! ( poo ) You have stolen your' style choices perfectly. I love lots of looks that are worn with heels which just do not work on a daily basis. Sometimes I wish I lived in a city and could get away with this. I will check out your' pins and, more than likely, nick a load more ideas. Here goes with another couple of hours obsessing. Love H xx

    1. Lol Helen....you make me laugh! You have it spot on about loving the looks where the chicks all have gorgeous hair and are tottering around in fabulous heels....if only I could look like them on the school run!!

I have kept the looks I've copied to outfits that would translate easily into my everyday life, my favourite was the check shirt and Breton as it was just what I had envisaged for my A/W look! So easy to replicate too! Using this inspiration has been great this week as all my looks were planned beforehand which made things so much easier/quicker of a morning!! x

    1. I seriously need to ration the time I spend on Pinterest Jane! Mind you it does mean I'm not Internet shopping which pleases the hubby and is great for my budget challenge! x

    1. You are so right Lynne....I may need some stripe therapy!! I hadn't noticed but every outfit features stripes!! I am loving spots right now so they may have to be the new stripes!! Which has reminded me of another look I would love to replicate! x

  4. I can barely get a post out these days I'm so tied up looking at everything on the tinternet and if I added interest, I'd be a lost cause. Having said that, I do dip in and out when I get a moment and like you say, it is really inspirational. I have to say you've pulled off all these styles beautifully - helps to have your great figure and long legs. I was obviously a bit of a slacker in the legs queue.

    1. When you can unearth such treasures and bag yourself such bargains Sue (I'm talking about your lovely boots!) it's no wonder you have been spending so much time trawling the net of late!

At the moment I am enjoying perusing the net without the need to make a purchase and loving the consequences of spending so much time engrossed in Pinterest! The upside is being able to put outfits together without flexing the credit card! x

  5. Love it all Michelle. I really enjoyed reading this post. I tried the denim shirt under my Mango striped jumper and just couldn't get it to work. I looked like an oompa loompa. Going to try again with a softer shirt that I have on order. Really like your take on the stripes and checks - the colours look fab x

    1. I have to admit Donna, I nearly changed the Mango jumper for another striped sweater I have from M&S which is more fitted. I think the M&S one looked better but as it was a slouchy Sunday look and pretty much identical to the Pinterest pic I went with the Mango one. Will definately be using the M&S one for a look for another time though! I love the check and stripe outfit so I will be trying other ways of working that kind of ensemble again too x

  6. Great style steals, very well done, Michelle! Maybe I`ll try the stripes and checks combo too.
I still think I`m too blonde for Pinterest. Whenever I see cool outfits I´m like"Oh,I could copy that style-if I was size 0 and living in California or NY."
    Must try harder.

    1. Go for the check & stripe look Evi......that look wins for me hands down! Very on trend.....there are loads of versions on Pinterest....I love it!

I'm completely with you on the pretty, young things gracing Pinterest......it can be so depressing but I try to see past it and just focus on the clothes! Not point dwelling on the fact that I will never be 6ft, size 0 and stunning enough to stop traffic like these girls all seem to be doing....they look like they are stood in the middle of the road most of the time! x

  11. Wow - you have re-created these brilliantly and I actually think you look better than the original photos - particularly in the second outfit with the checks/stripes.
I love pinterest but I love when bloggers do what you've done - I find it even more inspiring to see people successfully recreate it. Off now to think about getting a checked shirt...this is significant!
Have a lovely weekend Michelle, Axx
